Lifeline Albury Wodonga (LLAW) is seeking a proactive and proven retail professional to manage our two Lifeline retail op-shops and warehouses.  Lifeline shops are a recognised and much-loved part of the Albury Wodonga retail landscape, providing a unique shopping experience, whilst also often acting as a point of contact for people needing assistance, thereby playing a central role in supporting the community.

In this key management role, you will report directly to the CEO of Lifeline Albury Wodonga and manage the team of around 50 dedicated retail volunteers, as well as an employed Retail Assistant. Drawing on your management experience, a key part of your role is to attract, retain, and train the volunteers to provide exceptional customer service whilst ensuring the shop is beautifully presented and merchandised. In leading the team, you will foster positive and supportive relationships, creating a fun and inclusive environment where our centre culture of respect and appreciation for our volunteers is maintained.

In managing the operations of the retail shops and warehouses, the Shop Manager will have a strong focus on WHS and organisational compliance and support the development and implementation of processes. Other operational tasks include rostering, banking, and facilitation of team meetings. Whilst liaising and communicating internally with volunteers, staff, and management is integral; you will also communicate externally with customers and service providers to build and maintain successful, sustainable, and efficient business operations

Within the shops, you will drive sales through creative ideas to make the shop vibrant, welcoming and a draw card for new and returning customers. In this hands-on role, you will be able to showcase your style and flair by selecting, merchandising, and pricing accordingly.

To be successful in this position you will have

  • – Significant experience in retail management with responsibilities including merchandising, staffing, meeting budgets and customer service.
  • – Ability to work autonomously and prioritise own and others workload.
  • – Ability to develop a team to effectively meet organisational goals.
  • – Highly developed interpersonal skills including conflict management.
  • – An understanding of training and working with volunteers and or willingness to undertake training.
  • – Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety obligations.

This role is based on 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday with potential for occasional Saturday mornings. Some flexibility is available in working hours, particularly start and finish times. Shop hours are currently 9.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday in the Albury shop and 9.30am to 3.30pm Tuesday to Friday in the Wodonga shop.  We have plans to extend hours and/or open on Saturday morning soon.

Lifeline Albury Wodonga (LLAW) is a not-for-profit organisation with a purpose to provide support for individuals in time of crisis, and to create a suicide safe community through building regional resilience.

Lifeline is a predominately volunteer organisation. Lifeline’s 13 11 14 Crisis Support service – is provided by volunteers in our Albury call centre, and their work is financially supported in a significant way by the revenue generated from our shops in Albury and Wodonga, which are also staffed largely by volunteers. So, when people make donations and purchases in our shops, the money stays here in our community, directly supporting our local centre.
